Journalism stories

Updated: May 24, 2024

During my studies as a Journalism student at Liverpool John Moores University, I produced stories that were published in the Liverpool Echo.

One of my stories covered a letter written by MP Ian Byrne calling for free school meals across the UK.

I also wrote an article about a songwriting challenge in Liverpool, held in tribute to a volunteer at Liverpool Acoustics who sadly passed away after a battle with cancer.

Additionally, I covered the high cost of local football after a man was quoted £194 to hire a pitch, which sparked a debate on the issue.

My first story for the Liverpool Echo was about the cost-of-living crisis and its on students.

Alongside this I also interviewed finance expert Vivi Friedgut, CEO and founder of BlackBullion, whose mission is to help young people develop financial skills for life.

In addition, I have also produced stories for the Southern Daily Echo in Southampton. Most of these involved rewriting press releases, but I particularly enjoyed covering my football team Southampton FC https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23696932.happened-last-five-times-southampton-met-sheffield-wednesday/?ref=twtrec

Back in Liverpool, I covered the ongoing disputes between regional leaders in the North West and the performance of rail operators TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast.

Alongside writing articles, I also produced short TV packages during my time as a Journalism Student. One of these videos was about the dangers of Smart Motorways, featuring interviews with campaigners about their safety concerns.
